Beta · Effective 21 October 2026
Terms of Service
These Terms are between you and Spell Shield Pty Ltd, operator of Draftmere. They apply to your use of the writing room and its related services. Before entering the writing room, you are asked to agree to this version. Contact privacy@draftmere.com for legal notices or questions.
Using the beta
You may create a Free account without a card. Email verification is required. You must be at least 18 and able to enter this agreement. If you use Draftmere for an organisation, you must have authority to agree on its behalf. Keep your sign-in details secure, use your own authorised account, and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity you authorise through your account.
Your writing belongs to you
You retain your rights in manuscripts, notes, story information, imports and other content you provide. Draftmere does not acquire ownership of your writing. You give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, copy, transmit and process that content only as needed to provide the features you choose, support and secure the service, and fulfil lawful obligations. This includes using relevant service providers for those purposes.
This permission does not allow us to publish or sell your private writing, use it in advertising, or train our own models on it. It ends when the relevant content is deleted, subject to necessary backup, security and legal retention described in our Privacy Policy. You must have the rights and any permissions needed to submit the content, including personal information about others.
AI assistance and your judgement
AI assistance is optional and runs when you request it. You authorise processing of the relevant context for that request; turning AI assistance Off blocks new AI requests for that work. Read the Privacy Policy and service providers for data handling.
AI suggestions and story checks may be inaccurate, incomplete or similar to output received by others. Review them before using or publishing them. We do not claim ownership of output supplied to you and permit you to use it, subject to applicable law and others' rights. We do not guarantee that AI output is unique, copyrightable or free of third-party claims.
Acceptable use
Do not use Draftmere unlawfully, infringe others' rights, distribute malware, harass people, access another person's private data, bypass access or usage limits, or disrupt the service. Fictional writing can address difficult subjects; use of the service must still comply with law and the applicable AI providers' acceptable-use rules. The beta is not designed for regulated health records, highly sensitive identity documents or other data requiring specialised safeguards.
Saving, backups and availability
Device storage, manual cloud sync and AI processing are separate. Browser storage can be cleared, lost or accessed through an unlocked device. Keep independent exported backups and check them. The beta may change, experience interruptions or lose data. We will take reasonable care in operating the service, but do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage or error-free results.
Credits, subscriptions and payments
Free includes local writing, manual tools, supported exports and one completed limited continuity check per calendar month (UTC), up to 2,000 words and the displayed size limit. Free checks use a smaller model, can miss conflicts and have retry and service-wide capacity limits. They do not include general AI credits or cloud sync.
Writer costs US$12 per month with 60,000 AI credits per month; Author costs US$29 per month with 300,000. Both include cloud sync and the same AI tools. Prices include applicable tax. Subscriptions automatically renew monthly until you cancel. Your checkout shows the amount and renewal terms before you pay; your bank may charge currency conversion or other fees.
Cancel through the billing portal to stop renewal at the end of your paid period. Paid cloud writes and subscription-credit spending end when that period expires. Your local writing and access to read/export owned cloud work remain. During beta, change plans after the current paid period ends, or contact support for help.
Unused subscription credits carry forward up to twice your plan’s monthly allowance. Active subscribers may buy packs of 100,000 credits for US$12, 350,000 for US$35, or 1,000,000 for US$90. Purchased credits expire 12 months after purchase and remain usable after subscription cancellation; packs do not provide cloud sync. Credits are an internal usage allowance, cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash, and do not promise a number of words or completed tasks. Model, context and output affect usage. You approve a maximum before a paid AI task; failed tasks release their reservations.
Contact hello@draftmere.com for billing help or refund requests. We review discretionary refunds case by case. A full purchase refund removes its remaining unused credits; a partial goodwill refund does not automatically remove access. We may pause AI spending while investigating suspected fraud or disputes. Nothing here excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law. Sandbox payments and test credits are clearly labelled and do not represent real purchases.
Feedback
You may choose to send feedback. We can use suggestions to improve Draftmere without owing compensation or attributing them. This does not grant us a right to publish manuscript passages included in feedback or change your writing ownership.
Ending access and deleting data
You can stop using Draftmere and request account deletion at any time. Export what you need first. The owner fulfils beta deletion requests; device copies need separate removal. We may suspend or end access for misuse, legal or security reasons, or if the beta ends. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice and an opportunity to export. Urgent security or legal action may require immediate suspension.
Responsibility and your legal rights
You remain responsible for your content and decisions about publication. We are responsible for operating Draftmere with reasonable care. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights, guarantees or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under Australian Consumer Law. Subject to those rights, we do not promise outcomes for publication, sales, creative success or AI accuracy.
Privacy and business data processing
The Privacy Policy explains our information handling; accepting these Terms does not subscribe you to marketing or enable analytics. Business customers who need a data-processing agreement or international transfer terms should contact privacy@draftmere.com before the relevant processing begins. We provide those agreements privately and arrange any required terms before processing on a customer's behalf. An existing applicable Data Processing Addendum remains in force, including its customer protections and notice commitments. Moving it off the public website does not terminate it. Applicable processing agreements take priority over conflicting Terms for the processing they cover.
Changes and governing law
We will notify you of material Terms changes and ask you to agree to a new version on your next online visit to the writing room. Changes do not authorise new uses of existing content retrospectively. These Terms are governed by Australian law and the applicable laws of South Australia, without removing mandatory protections or rights to bring claims where you live.
