The free check uses a smaller AI model and only your approved excerpt. It may miss conflicts or flag intentional choices. Retry limits and service-wide capacity limits apply. Other AI tools require credits and approval of a maximum cost before each request.
What do the credits mean?
Credits cover the AI work you ask for. A short revision uses less than a long draft or a manuscript scan with several reading and comparison steps. Best costs more than Fast. Both paid plans offer the same tools; Author gives you five times Writer’s monthly credits.

These are examples, not measured averages or guaranteed task counts. A 500-credit request represents a Fast call with about 2,000 input and 600 output tokens; the 2,500-credit example represents a Best call with about 3,500 input and 1,800 output tokens. Story verification can add a small separate cost. Input includes the writing and supporting context sent with your request, so longer pieces and voice references matter.
You are never charged more than the maximum you approve. The approval is a ceiling, not a fixed fee. We deduct measured usage and release the unused reservation. Failed generations spend no credits. You can always keep writing locally for free.

Available to active subscribers. Purchased credits expire 12 months after purchase and remain usable after cancellation. Packs do not include cloud sync. Credit use depends on model, context and output; a credit amount does not guarantee a word count or number of tasks.
After cancellation, local writing and owned cloud read/export access remain. Cloud writes and subscription-credit spending end with your paid period. Contact hello@draftmere.com for billing help, plan changes during beta and case-by-case refund requests. Mandatory consumer rights remain.
